RABENOLD RACING FOR 2009

KRR finds Victory Lane for the first time in 2009

Date: 5/30/09

After the first 3 weeks, Kory Rabenold and KRR thought they had some luck on their side, then after 3 more straight weeks of poor finishes and bad weather, the KRR team were starting to think that the luck that they had was bad luck. This past weekend at MVS, that would change, Kory Rabenold in #63 Zacharias Motorsports/Buzzy's Autobody/Liquid Light Lightning Energy Drink modified, finally makes his way into Victory Lane.

Kory lined up on the outside of the first row and was hoping for a good start in the feature and for his luck to turn around. At the drop of the green, Kory held onto his position and would have to wait a couple of laps for the momentum to take over and Kory inch by the race leader. After about 4-5 laps of side by side action with Kory on the outside of the race leader, Kory was able to make his way past the leader and into the #1 spot. Kory had to fight to keep his position as another competitor was making a hard charge and was applying pressure. After a series of re-starts due to cautions, Kory would finally find himself leading the race. At the drop of the checkers, Kory would notch his first win of 2009 and fifth career win at Mahoning Valley Speedway.

After the race in victory circle when asked about his win, "It feels real good. Terry Zacharias has put a good car under me and I can't thank them enough for letting me run it. We lost our sponsorship for the ARCA Series and I just want to be in a car and he has such good equipment," said Rabenold. It's just so much fun to race here and it feels good to be back in the Winner's Circle," said Rabenold. "I want to dedicate this to my grandfather who passed away in 2007. I know if he was still with us he'd have been here cheering us on."

Kory doesn't forget about who got him to where he is now. If it weren't for the support of his parents, Pat and Buzzy Rabenold, and the support of his crew, both his ARCA crew and his weekly racing crew, he wouldn't be where he is at today. In addition, Kory acknowledges that at even at this level of competition, the financial help that comes from his sponsors is crucial to be successful. "I have to thank my dad, (Buzzy Rabenold) he's always behind me. My crew, there always there and my sponsors: Liquid Lightning Energy Drink, Buzzy's Auto Body, Mama's Pizza, Dynamite Woodworking, Brooksy's Beers and Barrels, Computer Pals, Sprinhouse Eye Care, Moore Cleaners, and Fitness Club of Walnutport, there always there for me no matter if its uphill or downhill," said Rabenold from Victory Circle.

Kory Rabenold and KRR are hoping that this win brings enough momentum to take them into next weeks, Hand 2 of the 100 lap Poker Series. The majority of Kory's career wins in a Modified at MVS come from those 100 lap extra distance races. One of Kory's goals for 2009 was to win one of those races for Zacharias Motorsports, and next week will be another chance to do just that. With the success of this past weekend, the work in the garage will be minimal, however, some tweaking will need to be done to get the car to work just a bit better. After Kory's win this past weekend, when asked about next weeks race and how the car should be, "I think we have a good car. We were fighting a tightness and struggled just a bit with that but as the tires wore it loosened up and it was fast. We should be in good shape for the 100-lapper," said Rabenold

You won't want to miss next weekends race. With guys like Kory Rabenold, Eric Beers, Earl Paules, Rusty Smith as well as all of the MVS regulars, you can guarantee it will be an exciting race to watch. Come out to MVS to watch your favorite driver go 100 laps for the $3000 prize.
